David Morrill Williams is a lifelong Episcopalian and a devoted singer and a listener of both the 1982 Hymnal and the 1940 Hymnal.
David began writing poetry in earnest in 2016 and started concentrating on songwriting two-and-a-half years ago. Hymn writing followed six months later. He received substantial training in poetry writing from private teachers, teachers at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, and, of course, extensive reading and self-study. He believes his poetry training has been very beneficial in making the switch to songwriting and hymn text writing.
David has published several poems in journals and anthologies. And he has had four of his hymns sung by the congregation of his local parish church (St. George's Episcopal Church in Maplewood, NJ) during weekly Sunday services. He lives in South Orange, NJ with his husband, the cellist and author David A. Black, and their cat, Rawley. David will be continually adding new hymns set to familiar public domain hymn tunes to his hymn website.
Hymns may be downloaded for free including any credits and copyright notice and printed for your use by your congregation during services. There are no royalties. They can be printed on separate sheets of paper or inserted into your service leaflet.
